It was a long trip home from Buffalo, MN, the site of this years Mooseburger Clown Arts Camp, but the trip to Camp was more of an adventure and several hours drive longer. Luckily, I pulled over near Chippewa Falls, WI, to top off the gas tank because 10 minutes later I was at a complete stop and in the midst of what seemed like a gazillion cars, semi-trucks, boats, and campers. For the next 75 minutes we literally inched our way on Interstate 94 toward the Twin Cities (Minneapolis/ St Paul, MN). I arrived a few minutes late for the opening welcome to camp, had much help getting my bags up to my room, and even had a few zzzzzz’s before heading to supper.
The first evening progressed with demonstrations of many of the Camp Staff clowns donning their makeup and costumes as we watched and asked question after question. Needless to say, the fun and laughter had already begun. This was followed by some of the funniest skits and magic acts and imaginative clowning I have ever seen. By the time we all went to our rooms for some shut eye our sides and cheeks were aching from no stop laughing.
